| Bangaram Island : The last enchanted isle… |
A tiny, 128 acre island, Bangaram is the Jewel in Lakshadweep’s crown. Enclosed in a huge lagoon and sharing it with three other un-inhabited islands, Bangaram is world-famous as the first ever resort to open in Lakshadweep. The Bangaram Island Resort is managed by the CGH Earth group (Formerly the Casino Group of Hotels, Kerala) – a pioneer in Kerala tourism with reputed heritage resorts throughout the state. At Bangaram, nothing is more obvious than the group’s “Less is More” philosophy – a break from the luxury resorts all over other island destinations, the Bangaram resort brings back an era bygone. All cooking is still on firewood here and dinners are by the beach. Almost all the staff is from the islands and exude a warm hospitality that is trademark to the Lakshadweep. Bangaram is where folks love to come back and boasts of countless repeat guests from all parts of the world.
The stress is on the outdoors and a rather simplistic approach to holidaying on an island. While there may not be room service or air-conditioning, there is great food, even better service, an almost un-inhabited island to explore, quiet corners and such.
